About Stacey and Evolving the Kids Furniture - beds, bunks and kids duvets - at REM Design

When I returned to New Zealand from New York after working on major projects in the city, including the cult bar Naked Lunch - still noted for its ongoing hip interior - I wanted something cool for my son’s room. Talk about dismal pickings!

There was a serious need for cool, modern furniture and bedroom design for children and teens, so I decided to search the world for great furniture for kids and young adults - contemporary yet functional, great quality at a reasonable price. Quite a feat, but slowly over the past 9 years, I have brought together the best available internationally - and what wasn’t out there I designed, manufactured and brought here to NZ.

REM Design imports quality kids furniture from abroad, uses local manufacturers in New Zealand, and is also constantly looking for the latest design ranges worldwide.

The Electric Blue line was developed by REM Design and a team based in New York. It is a funky, clean-lined furniture range that I really love, including Bunks with storage space that can separate into 2 beds which can double as cool couches. Why buy a bunk bed that will only last you a few years when you can have something that morphs into a teenage scene, flexible enough to take you all the way through.

My son is now 19, so I can share all our experiences with you - what doesn’t last, the pitfalls of certain furniture, ways to save you money. I offer a complete interior design service to help you and your children make the coolest, most functional spaces, whether your budget is small or large.
